I recently had the opportunity to work with a client who was experiencing anger issues with his current girlfriend.

After having been together for around 18 months, my client started getting very angry often for no reason. However, he did say it was worse when his girlfriend was going out with her girlfriends.

After a few minutes of discussion it became clear that the issues were very much related to an event in the past, when his girlfriend at the time cheated on him. Understandably, he was extremely upset and angry at the time.

Now, with his current girlfriend, as the relationship became more serious, he started to react by being jealous and getting angry.

As this was seriously affecting his relationship he sought my help.

When he explained a particular situation where he felt incredibly strong anger we started by treating that specific memory as well as his feelings of betrayal and anger in his past relationship.

When we started he explained he could feel his stomach churning and he was starting to see red. But after a few rounds of tapping his anger and upset completely disappeared.

In fact, his girlfriend was due to go out at the weekend, and although he normally would be quite upset and reacting strongly when thinking about it, after the treatment he felt completely fine and said he didn’t have any problems at all.

He felt completely different when he left, as he was very happy he just didn’t feel the same anger issues anymore.

Of course, I will do a telephone follow-up to ensure the treatment was fully successful after just a single session, as another session could be required. The true test is whether the anger issue returns in particular circumstances which weren’t mentioned during the treatment, although I do believe the core issue was successfully treated.
