EFT for Food Swallowing Problems
We are often severly affected by events that took place many years before, and typically when an issue has existed for a long time and sits very deeply, more sessions are required to completely resolve all aspects of the issues.
A recent client started having problems swallowing solid food he was in the late teens. He felt like he was choking, and was convinced anything solid would get stuck and he would die.
He was uncertain why this was, but thought it could be connected with an event as an early teen when he saw a family dog nearly choke to death on a chicken bone. It caused my client a lot of worry and anxiety at the time, and he was really upset.
Although the dog was safe, this did leave a lasting impression and during the treatment it became very obvious his problem was closely linked to that experience.
My client hadn’t been able to swallow solid food for more than 20 years! Yes, my client had been living on juices and soups only!
My client said he would never even put anything in his mouth if it was solid as the feeling of choking would become incredibly strong.
We started tapping (using EFT) whilst he descibed the problem and the feeling he had in his throat. He then described the feelings they had when watching the dog choking as a young teenager.
The anxiety rapidly decreased, and after a few rounds my client was able to put solid food in his mouth.
My client continued to tap with the food in his mouth, and very soon started swallowing.
He was swallowing solid food for the first time in over 20 years!
He then was able to eat different types of food, including corned beef which feels quite solid in the mouth.
The first session came to an end at that stage, with my client feeling much better and looking forward to having a proper meal!
Well, a couple of weeks later (delayed due to my client having friends visiting) I went back for a second session.
My client said he felt he could do it, but when he sat down for the meal his throat started to constrict and he gave up right away.
In our second session we very quickly got to the bottom of the problem. Rather than actually being fearful of choking when my client had food in his mouth, the problem now was that my client was fearful of putting food in his mouth.
During the session my client quickly got to a point of eating solid food and didn’t have much of a problem.
We worked on this remaining issue and reduced the stress and anxiety of the anticipation of eating drastically.
By the end of the session, my client ate a piece of bread with butter, and even added sliced tomato in the middle, and ate it virtually without any problems.
Any last remaining issues should now just drain away by themselves, but we have scheduled another appointment (for other issues) for next week so we can deal with anything remaining.
I am confident my client will be able to eat much more healthily in the future, and I’ll post an update here next week.
